31-3-2017 Buell XB12R big inspection
27-4-2017 - What did we do today: 31-3-2017 Buell XB12R some TLC ( aka big inspection ) wheel bearings Dyno, exhaust strap
nice 07 Xb12R for inspection to day

comming in hot.. so drain the plugs right way
removing the covers and loosen the clutch adjuster little dab off neverseas on the threads

gear box drain plug.. a litle debris is ok

plug in and gear box oil back in

chin spoiler has been juttering to the oil filter ( chin spoiler is loose )

fresh filter on hand tight

needed the breaker bar to loose the axle ..

rear brake off

rear wheel in the stand.. 5e gear and checking the primary chain , needed to adjust this one a little

nice wheels... remove the inner belt guards.. so you don't damage

belt check .. ok

rear wheel bearings.. not ok

pressing in the new bearings using stamps and holders

and axle cleaned and lube... back in

front plug change from below

check the plug cables for rubbing

rear plug back in

point the front plug cable in so it douse not run against the cables

as this is a 2007 model.. look extra at the reasr rocker cover.. it has been cleaned.. but are the gaskets replaced.. decision was made to check theme

a i really don't want this exhaust to determinate any furter ( rear is fixed already ) leaving this on and make a engine support with some blocks off wood and a prybar

engine supported.. trying to loosen the front bolt.. the insert is loose.. with a big ratched , and spanner to hold the socket , so you can make a turn to put some load on the bolt.. usualy after a few turns it will pop loose

as it did.. will clean the axle before it goose back in

off course we remove the left foot peg bracket before dropping the engine

better look.. cover off indeed orange "old" gaskets

new black ones in and cover back on

mnnn head temp sensor the terminal is loose.. will repair this

frame insert... to put a socket on i need to remove the bump rubber

tiny plate with rubber bump stopper on

1 inch socket and frame insert out

loctite on and turn it back in

and bump rubber back on

looks like the front has also been leaking,, with the engine down.. no work at all to do this

yep front ones also old style orange

engine back up the loctite had time to dry.. front bolt cleaned and lubed a little... tq to 66 NM

head sensor wire new terminal on

and stack and airbox back on

front end check

wheel bearings.. are starting to get bad .. just replace theme

mnn i see this happen more.. this one also overtighten the axle ... the allen key forces the end off the axle out a little

the axle has become 0.20 thicker at the end where the socket needs to go in

while normaly the axle is 30 mm , this way the axle can become tight in the front leg.. and the fork can not slide in postion

a little skim on the late and the end is back in shape

works better like this
:-)

front end out to refesh the oil

protecting the top caps

mnnn right leg.. looks like it is bend a little , almost not visible at the outer leg while mounted.. but directly visible with the rebound damper is out the middle

legs serviced .. tighten the top clamps only

now retighten the steering head bearings

and than the lower clamps

stock R postion

but as this customer is a long guy.. advised hime to go for S pegs .. easy and more leg room

front brake light switch did not work... wonder way
;-)

front brake fuild change

and rear

and rear

light no worky

very hard to get to .. so i removed the light unit.. the ground tab is corroded off .. no wonder ..

with some new connections , the lights work again.. and faring can be put on

contact... mnn missing one light ... oil pressure

mnnn some thing fishy here

the oil line is turned so that it broke the oil pressure switch

ok.. oil filter off again.. to give room for the oil pressure switch

old broken one out and new one in

yes working now... warm up. oil level check and test ride
:-)

i see some thing wrong with my front end.. !!! i can see the balls... mnn that is not good please come by

the left side was completly out allready

retreving the inner ring and some loose balls , make it so i gan still use a puller ( or try to )

normaly this works , as it did now.. saves allot off time getting the outer race out

lady with experiance
:-) did not expect this on the dial
:-)

ready to rumble again

bike off the dyno., front strap broke..

eehh strap did not break . the bolt did .. i think it was to tight .. the expansion when the exhaust gets hot is big

down side you need to loosen the exhaust to replace the strap

other strap on.. put a counter nut on the bolt.. these remus straps have a problem with these bolts runnign loose
