11-9-2014 XB12X wheel bearing, XB9R service.

12-9-2014 - Buell XB12X rear wheel bearing failure. Buell XB9R front fork service.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, if your brake disk looks like this, and you can feel the wheel moving when you pull it... your bearings have failed.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, rear pads also thin.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, little things i notice, common problem, the pulley cover rubbing the idler pulley ( with the free Spirits belt tensioner )

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, inside pulley cover, will give it more room.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, a little more play than should be , and half a pint off rusty water coming out off the wheel when you hold it to the side.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, very special, pulling out the broken bearing the outer race split in half, dremel with small grinder wheel needed to get the other half out.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, spacer has been rubbing on the inside off the wheel to , will put a new one in.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, with new bearings the wheel back in, cutting the pulley cover to clear the belt idler pulley.

XB12X rear wheel bearing failure, just pre caution
checking the front wheel bearings too , these where ok.

XB9R front fork service, customer came in to replace the front fork oil, but noticed also some steering head play.

XB9R front fork service, pinch bolts loose, and axle out.

XB9R front fork service, brake caliper off.

XB9R front fork service, with the LSL super bike conversion the markings are not so clear to read, so i measure the height, to put theme back in the same height.

XB9R front fork service, forks out, clips need to come off on the 41 mm legs.

XB9R front fork service, top caps off, they can be very tight.

XB9R front fork service, now first clean the bottom ends off the forks, as the fork will slide in all the way, leaving dirt on, will destroy your fork seals.

XB9R front fork service, before breaking the connection top cap / rebound needle , check the settings.

XB9R front fork service, preload the spring tube , so the connecting lock nut is visible, and loosen.

XB9R front fork service, spacer tube and spring out, left the leg upside down to drain the fluid out, and refill with fresh oil, pumping the rebound damper until you have bleed al the air out ( constant drag completely up end down )

XB9R front fork service, with a suction hose measure the oil level and make a indicator ( here a little o-ring ) and suck the oil to level.

XB9R front fork service, connecting the top cap / rebound needle . i set the adjuster indicator points flush to top and point to point, this will be the new full closed position, looks better like this and you will have the complete adjustment range.

XB9R front fork service, forks back in, checking the steering bearing stem nut , need to remove the handlebar for this.

XB9R front fork service, nut sticks out allot ? and feels tight.

XB9R front fork service, nut removed...mnnnn looks like some one forgot the spacer that needs to be used for this LSL kit , the steering stem sticks out to much, and nut bottoms out before the top tripple T ( and steering head bearings ) are tighten, so no matter how tight you pull the steering stem nut, it will not remove the free play.

XB9R front fork service, made a spacer for this customer on the late, pre assembly to check , the dimensions.

XB9R front fork service, perfect the spacer is good, rebuilding the top triple t, and now the feeling thightening the steering stem nut feels like your tightening the bearings.

XB9R front fork service, wheel back in.

XB9R front fork service, little markings on how the handle bar was mounted, so it will go back the same way.

XB9R front fork service, set the suspension, customer was not sure about the tps settings, so TPS reset and test ride  ( idle screw is hiding behind the left airscoop )

XB12X last things to finish this one, test riding
beautiful kept bike.
