8-12-2016 XB 12XT service, S1 bigbore
21-12-2016 - 8-12-2016 Buell XB12 XT in for service, and Buell S1 bigbore
allweather bikes... in for service
checking the battery on CCA , plenty good
as this can be a issue on the 08 up models... checking the charging... also good
so hot , drain the gearbox and engine oil
checking the bearing in the pull plate... some things you just need to check... than just fill with new oil , as you can do a oil change with out loosening this
same reason.. i check the clutch cable and lube it... so it douse not corrode tight over time ( normal service checks )
side stand is dirty and dry
after a good clean.. i use tacky chain grease for this one.. and while off the spill . works perfect
dain plugs... debris on the gearbox is normal
plug back on and oil set to level
engine oil plug should not have any / or much debris on
plug back in and fill the oil
oil filter off K&N filters can be screwed off with a 17 mm spanner
prime the new filter. and wet the o-ring , screw back on hand tight
oily stuff done... checking the primairy chain , rear wheel in the air... and bike in 5e gear
bump the rear wheel around to check the chain on at least 3 positions , set the play on the tightest spot
rear caliper off
and wheel out to check the bearings
these feel gritty... i replace theme.. this customer don't want to strand with a pair off bad bearings
belt is a ok
fresh bearings in... wheel can go back in
tighten the rear axle to 66 Nm
front plug best done from below
check the gap on new plugs, usualy there to tight
SE spart plug wires... i think the HD dealer who had the bike in maintenace did mount these
there a little long.. but they will do , if positioned good they will not rub
rear plug... need to remove the airfilter box to get to it and you need a swivel head + extention
new plug in... and plug wires on.. long but ok
bike turned around on the lift, to checl the front end
pinch bolts loose and axle out
front bearings feel gritty to.. will replace these to
6 pot caliper back on in between the spokes so you don't damage theme
wheel back in and axle tight lefthand 55 Nm
little loctite on the caliper bolts
and set these to 50 Nm
chin spoiler back on.also loctite on the screws , these things rattle
pushed down the suspention a few times.. and thighten the pinch bolts
right hand heated grip douse not work anymore .. checking the cables , behind the flyscreen
locating the wires to the grip... and measuring resitance ... pos. 1 is about 9 Ohm.. pos 2 is about 22 Ohm
brake fluid change front
and rear
and test ride :-)
S1 bigbore engine... case back in black , to fit the color shedule off the bike better
time to put the case to getter.... cleaning the edge and regrease it good
oil windage try :-)
yep you make it weaker with a big bore
cases with sealant to getter, loctite on the case bolts
i put also 2 gearbox bolts in to tighten the case
lower screws in ( notice this is a late model case ;-))
and tq the case screws down to 24 Nm
lining up to the swing arm adaptor
and tightening all the bolts
front shock mount / exhaust bracket on
and it hangs :-) ( stil need a strap )
shock on .... so we can build the rest up...
will clean the regulator up a little and give it a paint... looks like crap on a new rebuild bike like this
