3-1-2017 - 16-12-2016, Stage 1 Buell 1125R and rotor upgrade, Buell XB belt + bearings, Buell XB Bigbore stripdown
cold early morning... ready to ad a few HP :-)
take the airfilter box off
mnnn happens more the 2 parts off the lower airbox are pulled apart
and the iac hose is loose from the pipe
degreased and a bead off silicone , the pieces back to getter, to let theme set
WTF ? throttle stop mounted ? no wonder the bike did not wheely
as the throttle opens not completely
just checking of this is a HL06 vin code bike ( French market ) as these are limited in power.. but normal full power bike
active intake cable removed from the solinoid
and throttle shafts locked to getter with a ziptie
throttle stop removed
open all the way... this customer is in for a surprice on the first ride and full throttle... i will warn him
so next job. exhaust off , front left bolt
rear left bolt , you can rotate the idler pully to get to the hole if needed
right rear bolt
loosen the right footpeg bracket bolts so the exhaust comes easier
and right front bolt
and the exhaust is off
rotor upgrade... oil line from the cooler and twist it down and out off the way
mnnn someone has been working on this
cover off ... shees the balance gear spacer/washer had come off during mounting and was stuck in the rotor magnet
and has been running for a while , wearing on the inside lining off the rotor and rubbing the stator... lucky in this case, nothing happend other than some wear marks
the gear has been rubbing in the cover a little
sprag clutch bolts loose
check the running surfaces off the sprag gears
clean off the old loctite from the mounting bolts
and from the sprag outer ring
prelube the sprag clutch and push back in the outer ring
oil jetted rotor :-)
rotor back on... rotate the sprag gear so the holes line up
loctite on these bolts and tighten theme
set to TQ
cover can go back on.. a little silicone on the rubber
and cover back on.. the one screw with the washer back in position
neutral switch wire harness in the guide
and oil cooler line back on
use the orignal screws to mount the left side off the oil cooler bracket
TH header pipe on
preassemble the TH2 exhaust and slide it on the header
intake stacks on... mounting the clip can be a hassle, but don't stop trying untill they lock good, you should be able to pull the stacks
mounting a ziptie on the iac hose so it will stay on the next time
and airbox base back on pushing down the rubber so it will seat properly
K&n filter
ecm was still old firmware
so new one with a nice fuel mapping from us.. ready to go... she will make wheelies now :-) and spin the rear tyre at 80 mph pulling here open in 4e gear 8000 RPM.. in cold / wet :-)
flinstone buell trailered in
nice.. but works better with a piece off rubber , rear pully is still good... little markings
front is also ok.. no sharp edges
looking at the corrosion on the brake disk.. it would be good to check the bearings ( advice to do this every time you have the wheel in your hands anyway ) so rear caliper off
right side footpeg bracket off
so we can remove the swing arm brace
wheel out... yep... these are done , complete failure expected with in 1000 km
will replace theme and clean the spacer ( aluminium ) al this corrosion is from the bearings , and some watter was already in the wheel , as the bearing seals don't seal anymore when the bearings are worn
wheel cleaned and libiral amount off grease inside the hub
wheel back in belt in
before you tighten the axle... swingarm brace back on
and belt inner guard on
pully cover back on
and rear caliper back on.. little cleaning is usefull here to spot the condition off things
slitting the case on the engine strip down
and the crank can be take out
a little trace on the outer pinion race.. see if the bearings are ok
as this case need to be milled for the 88 Ci set , the oil jets need to come out
i take the read valve out to
little cleaning to get the most off the grime off , and oil filter mount / oil pressure check bal out to clean all the internal chanels
5e gear bearing i will replace... the seal leaking usualy means to much play on the bearing, and is has to much play
5e gear out and bearing pressed out
checking the inner race off the pinion bearing... looks ok
before we send it to the machine shop , for eay handling i press out the gear box... the shifter fork slide pins can be tapped out with a drift trough the slots in the case for this
forks and shifter drum out
zip tie the gears so the don't drop off
and gear box pressed out zip tie the spacer rings and gears
now rough cleaning this side
ready to put theme to getter for shipping to the machine shop
