29-8-2014 XB replacing fuel pressure regulator.

30-8-2014 - Buell Xb12X 2009 replacing fuel pressure regulator.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, off course the tank is almost full , i made a handy drain hose, and by testing the fuel pump, or switch ignition on and off pumping the fuel out, so it will not be that messy.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, now we need to take the swing arm a little out so the pump can come out, supporting the weight on the remus exhaust is not that good, so i put the bike in straps in the hoist , rear wheel out .

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, left foot peg bracket out , to get to the fuel pump.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, locating and disconnecting the fuel pomp connector.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, right side, loosen the swing arm axle pinch bolt, and loosen the axle.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, now i like to protect the swing arm from scratching as the fuel pump needs to come out a bit.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, while we pumped most fuel out , there will still be some inside , taking out the drain plug will take car off this, only a small cup is needed.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, while pulling off the fuel line , the residue int he line will drain out , a piece off cloth will catch this.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, loosing the 4 screw on the fuel pomp.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, now there is a special tool to pull out the pump... but the screw hole in the middle can be used to pull it out. a few rings can help.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, mounted in a wrench and you have some lever to wiggle and pul it out.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, mnnnn ok looks like a 2010 fuel pump ( would explain the high pressure)

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, looking at the part number .. yep 2010 pump is on, will not work really good in a 2009 model.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, dimensions are the same as the "old" models, so will test it with a 35 Kpa regulator.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, low level sensor is also loose, not good ground contact.

 

XB12X to much fuel pressure, and yes O-rings soaked in fuel will become bigger, and will be a pain to mount it back.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, a little contact washer under the mounting screw for the low level sensor and that one is also secure.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, so rebuild, swing arm back in and tighten the axle , and the pinch bolt.

XB12X to much fuel pressure, the translucent covers come with special spacers, please use theme, the covers crack very easy.
