25-11-2015 XB9S coating, XB12x customising
27-11-2015 - What did we do today 25-11-2015 XB9S coating job, XB12x customising , keyless ignition
XB9S coating job, long time owner, brought his bike in for some small damage repairs and fresh coating on some parts ( tail section and headlight side plates )
XB9S coating job, so little stripping to be done,
XB9S coating job, as we take off the tail section , battery power off and remove the battery
XB9S coating job, bended battery tray, the tabs where not bolted down, passenger footpegs how ever are on ? bolt to short ? i will put it back better
XB9S coating job, reasr light out
XB9S coating job, connections made..
XB9S coating job, the 2 screws underneight the tail section where also missing
XB9S coating job, and that means the lock bracket / fuse box mount is loose to
XB9S coating job, short tail section and indicators always a challange to tighten / loosen as you don't have room to tighten big nuts
XB9S coating job, passenger peg brackets off
XB9S coating job, mnn ok 1 short and 1 long bolt , only the long bolt needs to go in the rear hole , hence the battery tray loose and not engouh lenght to put a nut on..
XB9S coating job, undertray front screws out
XB9S coating job, ground and battery connections loose
XB9S coating job, and after removing the 2 screw on the frame , you can take off the side rail
XB9S coating job, dito for the left one, only remove the brake reservoir ( metric ! bolt )
XB9S coating job, a rag on the shock, and some piece off rope to the seat lock plate , and it is some what steady so i can still move the bike
XB9S coating job, front end strip, flyscreen off
XB9S coating job, dash off, i remove the 2 front screws and pull the dash up, and pull it out the rubbers
XB9S coating job, and slide the rear rubber mount out the slot
XB9S coating job, headlight bolts loose and remove the light
XB9S coating job, loosen the contact lock bolts, right one is normal
XB9S coating job, the 2 in the center are temperproof bolts , and you need a torq bit with hole
XB9S coating job, and with the last bolt removed you can slide out the side plate , they interlock overlap in the middle
XB9S coating job, and head light bracket off... but this screw will not play frown-emoticon
XB9S coating job, so drilled the head off, and drilled the rest off the old screw out
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition, short fender painted and ready to go on
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , nice with mount point for the brake line
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , as a normal handle bar is mounted, and we want a clean look.. the cables are way to long, so clutch cable replacement for a normal XBs one , chin spoiler off
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , front cable brackets off
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , loosening the outer adjuster
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , and cable pulled staight to remove it
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , clutch mechnisme out
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition on a Uly we need to remove the shit lever mount bracket to get to the cable fitting
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , out with the old, in with the new... gentle the thread end breaks real easy
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition route the cable back op
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , put back the clutch mechnisme, as this is a power clutch is needs 1/8 turn back instead off the 1/4 turn
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , loctite on the bracket bolts
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , cable hooked in the lever , looks allot better now
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , a little corresion protection and adjust the outer adjuster
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , i'm going to use the flash button as the switch for the miniscoop function switch
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , as this needs to be a ground switch / connection taking apart the switch wire harness
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , and slide the sleeve back, to find the 2 connections made extra for the flash button
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , facctory made connections... i will cut these here and reisolate the wires
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , pulling though the extra wires i need
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , and ready to solder theme to the switch
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , switch back to getter
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition, there use to be alarm on the bike as this kill switch wires are reconnected, as the wire loom is already messy i wil clean this up and make the original connectors functional
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , so new terminal to the leads and back in the original connectors
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , so on with the rfid ignition switch , nice way to do this is to make the extra relais before the original key switch relais
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , protective cover removed from the fuse box
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition ... make it new or re-use some 1125 wire harness mod left overs ( i have a few left over wink-emoticon ) solid heavy duty wires and nice relais base , don't have to think about this 2x
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , feed to the key switch cut and loop the new relais in between
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , i think a nice place for the RFID pick up is under the airbox cover , but i want to be able to take the cover off with out all wires left connected to it, so removed the exhaust valve motor , and re use the wires for, i put a new connector on
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , unplug the other end off the exhaust valve motor wire loom , ground is already hooked up smile-emoticon , feed for the pick up with fuse to the battery
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , system check ... works smile-emoticon no to make it nice and durable
, XB12x customising , keyless ignition , played a little with the cover over the sensor, will make a little mounting plate using the screw holes ready there to mount the sensor , so the customer can hold the RFID fob over the cover and switch on the ignition
