3-10-2015, XB12XT no compression cam timing, Tyre
5-10-2015 - What did we do today 3-10-2015, XB12XT no compression / cam timing, Tyre quicky
ok time for this bike now... no compression and cams are not moving
XB12XT no compression, top end stripped for engine rotation
XB12XT no compression, removing the rest off the covers
XB12XT no compression, exhaust brackets off
XB12XT no compression, clutch cable unhooked
XB12XT no compression,V-brace and connectors loose
XB12XT no compression, exhaust off
XB12XT no compression, and loosening the front headers nuts
XB12XT no compression, and engine bolt out...
XB12XT no compression, we already drained the engine oil, but i will also empty the case , by draining the case drain plug.
XB12XT no compression, remove the oil ine bracket
XB12XT no compression, and remove all the spring clips on the jiffy connections
XB12XT no compression, engine rotated, and rear header nuts removed
XB12XT no compression, header off
XB12XT no compression, the engine a little more down... to remove the covers
XB12XT no compression, loosen the wire guide to unplug the temp. sensor
XB12XT no compression, and start with removing the front rocker cover, put a rag there to collect the oil that will come
XB12XT no compression, little bolts
XB12XT no compression, allen bolts
XB12XT no compression, and the big bolts. you seen i loosened these, but the valves are close, so little spring tension... and the gasket is sitcking
XB12XT no compression, a little love tap ,and the gasket did break
XB12XT no compression, that is where the rag was forwink-emoticon rocker box off
XB12XT no compression, rear same story
XB12XT no compression, and rear rocker bo loose
XB12XT no compression, to make life more easy i put the engine up during this...
XB12XT no compression, feed oil line bracket loose
XB12XT no compression, and pull out all the oil lines
XB12XT no compression, adn the one from the oil cooler that is housed on the oilpump cover
XB12XT no compression, so outer cover off
XB12XT no compression, removin the flat metal plate
XB12XT no compression, and pulling out the oil pump rotors
XB12XT no compression, and the last crews out for the housing
XB12XT no compression, again needed some love tapping to break the gasket , cover came out with cam number 2
XB12XT no compression... first signs , loose metal parts inside the cam cover not good
XB12XT no compression, and i can freehand spin the pinion gear
XB12XT no compression. even wurs .. the pinion nut is loos ( no loctite )
XB12XT no compression, broken pinion gear
XB12XT no compression, and the chewed key in the crank
XB12XT no compression, so far so good.. no missing pieces
XB12XT no compression, litte markings on the spacer ring
XB12XT no compression, the key was loose, normaly there in very tight ( need to drift theme out ) for me a sign it has been juttering some time, chewing away on the very tiny edge that holds the pinion gear.. i think the nut has come loose with no tension on the gear.. no strenght there... failure waiting to happen
XB12XT no compression, ok... cleaning the key way removing the burrs and new key
XB12XT no compression, as normal needs a little knocks to seat good
XB12XT no compression, spacer back on
XB12XT no compression, new pinion gear... and red loctite on the threads... nut tight
XB12XT no compression, cams are marked from front to rear 1 to 4
XB12XT no compression, always 1 hand short lyning all up and lifting the tapped
XB12XT no compression, checking the timing ... perfect
XB12XT no compression, cleaning the oilpump housing and reassemble the oil pressure valve
XB12XT no compression, cams nicly lube with redline mounting lube , and oil pump cover on
XB12XT no compression, pressure gear rotors , clean and inspect
XB12XT no compression, and with some assembly lube back in the pump housing
XB12XT no compression, some for the return gears
XB12XT no compression, coverplate back on
XB12XT no compression, the cover has no dowls, using the bolts to keep the gasket in place
XB12XT no compression, and cover place on
XB12XT no compression... yeah i don't remember wink-emoticonby hard.... fussy logic tightening sequence wink-emoticon
XB12XT no compression, clips back in the oil line fittings
XB12XT no compression, checking the bumpsticks... straight and ok
XB12XT no compression, rocker box cleaning press out the rocker axles
XB12XT no compression, when moutning position the notch right so the bolt will not be chewed on
XB12XT no compression, what to do with a bumpstick with out markings....
XB12XT no compression, easy exhaust is the long one
XB12XT no compression, little chewing on the rocker box bolts that can happen when the arm pivot notch is not in straight
XB12XT no compression, now before we go on... checking the valves... no leaks front and rear on the leak test ...happend pulling away from idle, lucky
XB12XT no compression, so rocker box back on... mount all screws before you start tighening the big bolts , so every thing is in line
XB12XT no compression, 22 NM , tighen slowly and evenly to give the tapped time to bleed, and not to warp the rocker box
XB12XT no compression, new gaskets in as a bonus
XB12XT no compression, and do the same for the rear , bup the bike in gear.. and turned the enigne over with the bumping the rear wheel... i hear the pump blowing in the oil tank.. and engine feels good ..
XB12XT no compression, time to rebuild, header back on
XB12XT no compression, engine up and front mount back in
XB12XT no compression, oil lines in place
XB12XT no compression, cable to the oil pressure switch
XB12XT no compression, adjusting clutch cable
XB12XT no compression, v-brace back on and connectors ziptied to the brace
XB12XT no compression, TQ hammer back on as the header was repositioned... unscrew the 2 front screws and repostion the exhaust
