30-10-2015 - What did we do today 29-10-2015 first ride XB12X new pistons, rebuild tail section xb tips, X1 troubles , new headers for XB12SS 2009 and some little things

xb12x new pistons... heat cycles done, first ride, don't idle to long, and keep the rpm below 3000, check after the first ride for oil sweating , she is perfect, scoops on and ready for the customer

tail section rebuild, the 3 pieces are powder coated, make sure to clean the ground points and clean the threads, ( need to be done on this picture )

X1 troubles, stutttters low throttle input , intake seals are good... tps sensor ? logging the voltage signal gives a little rimpels. but as the voltage input is also not very stable , little to tell from this..

X1 troubles ,ok lets try a tps sensor , not to much work , remove the intake / airfilter

X1 troubles ,support bracket off, and unscrewing the sensor bolts

X1 troubles , a little wiggleing you need to leave the rear screw in , and take it out with the sensor

X1 troubles ,steady hand and put the new tps sensor on, and tighten the screws ( check the throttle when you have put the sensor on, so you know the notch is in the correct position )

X1 troubles ,line out the support bracket , and some plummers loctite on the breather bolts to stop theme sweating

X1 troubles , bal end allen keys come in very handy

X1 troubles , for good measures checking the grounds, as they can come undone test ride, frown-emoticon did not changed allot... mnnn needs more investigation

New headers for XB12SS 2009 , they where dammaged in a little mishap, but they start to crank now, time to replace theme

New headers for XB12SS 2009, loosen the front stap and mount , and exhaust can be take off

New headers for XB12SS 2009, clutch cable loosened, and loosen the front header bolts

New headers for XB12SS 2009, rotate the engine down, and unplug the O2 sensor

New headers for XB12SS 2009, for headers only the engine douse not have to be rotated down very much , just enough to get to the nuts

New headers for XB12SS 2009, 2 birds 1 stone, while we are here...very easy check for new rocker box seals, as the rear box was sweating a little, now is best as ever to replace theme

New headers for XB12SS 2009, check it the exhaust saddle is resting nice and flat on the exhaust, and do not tighten the front strap to hard , it will break when the exhaust becomes hot

New headers for XB12SS 2009, she is using allot off oil !! i had to fill almost 3/4 off a liter ( on 3000km way to much for a healty engine ) how do you check the level ? sometimes cold, somtimes after 15 minutes.... please 08-up correct level... engine warm, idle, switch off , side stand and check the level on horizontal ground.. needed to take more than 0,5 liter out off this one, next to amount that just spilled over on my clean floor :-X


New headers for XB12SS 2009, just little things i look for... there is little play on the splines to the lever, when left like this the splines in the lever will wear out due to vibrations, check this ones in a while and retighten the screw

 


New headers for XB12SS 2009, i also noticed , the "steering head" clack noise , as a sign the steering head bearings needed a retightening, front end off the ground
