winter / engine time.. this was crank bearing mishap , the pinion bearing walked out.. did gave he crank a notch.. needed new bearings and straigthing , back from the machine shop — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
take the case from eacht other to mount the gearbox— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
better than new... bigend bearing and sprocket bearing — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
prepping right side case, detent arm holding pin — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
cleaning the gasket surface , and degrease
now first gear box in
pressing these upside down.. works best — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
as the loose rings and spacers can make it a very hard job.. upside down , not so — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
gearbox shafts pressed in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
shifter forks in the gears, and slider pipes on.. shifter drum can go in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
forks locked in the drum the slider pipes can be tapped in the holes to lock theme — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
thin layer sealer.. and gently lower the right case over the crank .. turning the gearbox can help to lower the case .. don't hammer it down ,if you need to hammer, something is wrong — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
2 temp bolts in to hold the cases.. try the gearbox first... every gear — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
gearbox works perfect... case bolt can go in.. red loctite — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and tq down to 24 nm , i start in the center and work my way out — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
shifter arm in the pivot hole — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and rear engine mount on.. loctite on these bolts — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
to prevent stuf falling in the now closed case.. put the speed sensor in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
lifters in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
oil pump gear in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
pinion gear. check the slot is not worn out — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
lock plate in place — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
25 Nm and 19 deg , red loctite on the threads — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
setting the cams — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
double check the line out — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
last change to prime the big end bearings.. — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
new oil seal in the cam cover — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and tq the cover down — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
timing trigger wheel in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

ignition sensor on.. note the easy on and off markings — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

new sprocket bearings.. the the tick washer has mounting markings and oil seal on — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
counter shaft holder mounting.. red loctite on the bolt— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
oiling spacer ring on the main shaft ...need to stop with this one — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and continue with the XB9 .. bag off goodies ( old bearings ) — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

oiling spacer ring on the main shaft ...need to stop with this one
and continue with the XB9 .. bag off goodies ( old bearings )
stripping it first
nice bearing race honed and alined
new pignon bearing
new sprocket bearing , crank pin / is looked over. and new needles and side play shims where mounted
wtih XB 03-05 when you have the engine apart this far and 40-50000 km.. replace the main shaft bearings regardless
new needle bearings in
and main bearing on.. lock clip in
i can use teh arbor press.. or one off the many tools we have for this
end drive mounted , and blind bearing
little below the surface , noted the same on the old one
detent arm back on
gearbox bearings out
and new ones in
lock clips in place
and gearbox shafts pressed on
shifter forks.. no strange wear marks
put eh 2 top in the gears waiting. and slide the pipe in
the same for the lower one
put the shifter drum in.. and guide the forks in the slots
tigh.. big end bearing... you need to feel before you believe it :-)
