31-5-2018 - What did we do today: 1-3-2018 Buell XB12X crank replacement ( odd ball crank used )

XB12X 08 model.. had a problem , low power.. had a look in the airbox, lots off oil in the airbox.. pistons rings worn out ( already 2e OS ) , looking at the crank.. side play and the crank is modified.. but over the top.. with glide bearings, but no side play holder.. so needs allot off oil and pressure.. effect , half the case is full off oil when the engine is running, and the cranks needs to push it self trough the oil this takes allot off power away — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

anyway we already take the heads and cylinder off— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

draining the case oil , by the case drain plug — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

modified oil feed pipe the complete diameter is made thicker nipples and all to get enought oil in the engine — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

the oil pump pressure has also been increased by changing the check bal sping ( inside ) a oil pressure meter was also installed — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

oil cooler lines feel loose.. i need to check if the retention is ok.. other wise these will need replacement — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

support bearing is made in the primairy cover. while i do like the effort.. where is the point if you drop the bike and have a little dent in the cover, or pull out the clutch mechanisme edge ... — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

needed to borrow a socket... no normal size for us , a small race is pressed on the crank tap , and the crank tap is welded on the original crank.. and put on the lathe and cut threads — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

don't rember this on the stock housing.. oil whiper in the pinionn crank end.. would be smart to give more oil inside the crank — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

and on the 08-10 models.. instead of a oil pump, a spacer is mounted — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

we need to part the bike .. so swing arm back on.. i use a set old peg plates better than all the straping— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

tappadytap.. break the seal on the case — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

and carefil split the cases .. first look at the glide bearings construction — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

ok pinion is also "modified " bearing.. with oiling hole drilled in teh case — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

but you see the side play... oil is spuwing out to fast and the pistons really do not like much move ment like this of the rods — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

the white metal bearings placed on the pin... you see how much side play there is , a load bearing oil film is very hard like this — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
