4-12-2016 XB12 1 cylinder, XB winter service
16-12-2016 - Buell XB12 running on 1 cylinder, Buell XB12 in for winter service
nice Xb12... but she is running rough.. and drops out on 1 cylinder
ok top off and check below deck
as it sound like the fuel is starving out.. i put the fuel perssure tester on , but pressure is good and holding
i will have a look at the iac
not much sooth on there
i cycle it in fully open and mount it back, it will set it self after you turn on the ignition
did a leak test... intake seals are leaking ... the one screw you cannot get to right side airscoop
i remove the pully cover as we are going to drop the engine
left scoop off and w.brace loose
left foot peg plate off , this will damage the primairy cover if tyou leave it on
and disconnect the crank positioning sensor and side stand connector ( if you have one )
clutch cable needs to come out off the handle, with aftermarket levers sometime you cannot unhook theme, just unscrew the lever to get the cabe end out
struggle with the one screw..
and support the weight off the engine, micron mufler plenty strong
with the weight off you can remove the center bolt
throttle cables need to come loose
08-up models easy to remove the coil
to have better acces to the nuts on the throttle cables
unhool the cables
and loosen the bolts, 08-up are hex bolts bought sides
mnnn ok there we have the problem... the side support screw dropped out... the intake manifold moves to much like this.. no way the seals are going to hold this
old out,
new in... i find it easier 08-up to put the bolts in later, as the big flanges need to move around during mounting
and side support screw in !
engine back up.. set mount bolt to 66 Nm
mounting the w-brace... take the screw... doing it so much.. i pick theme blind folded
hooking in the throttle cables push the barrel in the hole and turn the cable , works for be best
on the 08-up i first put back on the cables on the grip
and make sure there is enough cable adjustment left
than set the positon off the throttle cables as this is set with 2 jam nuts so realy flexible
coil back on
the coil wires are hold on the throttle bracket with a cable holder
connectors on
and time to test... running good
so airfilter back on
fuel breather hose.. behind the left footpeg there is a plastic eye you can route it trough
pully cover back on and chinspoiler tight again... ready
winter service for this XB
still looks very nice the 200 rear tire :-)
primary tension is way to tight...
drain the oils new o-rings and some hydrolic loctite
as there is high performance clutch in this bike, ATF D4 is use for the gearbox oil
and setting the primairy tension
exhaust off, as we noticed the intake seals are leaking
i take these brackerts off, less hassle than the band clamps on the termi
suppert the weight off the engine and remove the bolts
almost the same as the 08-up..
except these are non bolted cables
connectors loose to remove the manifold
this screw is still on ;-)
front spark plug wire has been rubbing as it was turned out
best to turn theme inward
manifold loose, mnnn
little signs off leaking
the rubber is hard on the edge
and t has formed a edge
i think blue seals are better in this case ( there thicker )
they need to fit good.. other wise this is no improvement
if you need to jam the manifold in between the heads because off the blue seals... not good, should mount easy and bolts should go in by hand
if you need to jam the manifold in between the heads because off the blue seals... not good, should mount easy and bolts should go in by hand
will repace the front cable as i see more rubbing markings
engine back up and bolt to 66 nm
exhaust back on.. i use a little red loctite on these hanger bolts
throttle was hanging a little... the idle wire is nackered and prevents the cables to run smoothly
