22-10-2015 - What did we do today 21-10-2015 cranks, XB12 scraping base gaskets, XB12 SS TLC , XB9 preping job for tomorrow

heavy mail call... 2 cranks for overhauling 

heavy mail call, that looks bad pinion bearing is toast, unevenly , this crank is warped badly 

heavy mail call, this one is nice but big end needs some taking care off

XB12 scraping base gaskets, Uly with oversized bore, preping for rebuild 

XB12 scraping base gaskets, cylinders with fresh bore and hone job, conservation oil put on thame as the fresh bore will rust very easy 

XB12 scraping base gaskets to the base gaskets are still on

XB12 scraping base gaskets, to secure the cylinder in the vice i made a torq ring with the dowl holes also in to keep the cylinder in place

XB12 scraping base gaskets, in the vise with weapon off choise gently craping the bas gasket off , to bad the pistons where packed wrong, so i need to wait on the right ones 

but work enough... so very nice XB12SS in for some TLC

XB12 SS TLC, lining up the 2 slots in the back off the ZTL2 8 piston caliper with the wheel spokes , so you can remove the caliper 

XB12 SS TLC, and the front forks out for oil change

XB12 SS TLC, protecting the cap nuts from scoring, check the settings on the rebound 

XB12 SS TLC, oil drained and flushed, the springs are progressive

XB12 SS TLC, rule off thumb half the front fork is unsprung weight , half spung weight , heavy part off the spring is best to the top side ( the progressive winding )

XB12 SS TLC, and checking the mounting hard ware, spings are all loose and working, the bushings not to much markings

XB12 SS TLC, customer wanted new bar end mirrors that don't vibrate , so off with the micky mouse ears

XB12 SS TLC, some off the plugs have a little glue , nock it out if you need to mount bar end mirrors or vibration dampers 

XB12 SS TLC, nice and heavy vibration dampers, i make theme fit for the bar end mirrors ( will arive to morrow ) 

XB12 SS TLC, make sure the throttle is not binding on the barend / vibration dampers 


XB12 SS TLC, covering the old mirror holes with some plugs, a gentle tap with a thumb detector will do
