common problem with the 08 -up XB regulator fails , the wiring is behind the left scoop , so need to remove this one — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
to get to the regulator and stator wires — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
first check... ecm has seen low battery ( and some other issues we will adress later ) — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
base check... stator wire first unplug — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and measure the resistance between the 2 wires — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
should be about 0.4 -0.5 Ohm ok next — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
check bought leads to ground resistance — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
ok bought leads not shorted to ground — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
now put your volt meter on AC , some times you need manualy change the voltage range — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
take bought leads and start the engine — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
cold idle ( 1500 rpm ) about 28 volts AC... stator is good — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
regulator measures ok.. but becomes very hot fast..— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
with in 3 minutes is is over 70 deg.. not good.. i pritty much now for sure this regulator will cut out when the bike gets hot , i will contact the customer— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
on with the service, drain the oils while hot — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
loosen the clutch cable outer adjuster — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
with fresh oil in you can adjust the bal and ramp good , lightly bottoming , 1/4 turn loose — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
engine oil fresh in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and replace the oil filter — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
with the wet stuff done, rear wheel check , home made protectors off — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
rear wheel off the ground and rear caliper off — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
bike in 5e gear and bumping the engine around , checking the chain tension on several points , this one was to tight.. will cause shifting issues.. and in some cases bearing damage — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

youcan feel the idler pulley bearings by spinning theme with the belt off — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

new one.. check the gap and put some neverseas on the threads — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
time for the hard spark plug ( the rear one ) removing the airbox cover — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
the translucent covers are mounted with spacers and foam washers — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
lower airbox removed — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
check the cables for rubbing / corrosion — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
rear plug isbest done with swivel joint and extention— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

i really think this is the first time the front wheel comes out.. the caliper bolts are freaking tight with loctite out off the factory — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

take core off the wires and cables when you put the legs back in — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

and a little grease on the axle so the bearings will not corrode to the axle — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
caliper bolts back in 50 NM and a little loctite — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
regulator off.. 3 screws holding on to the w-brace — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
