23-10-2017 - 28-9-2017 XB charging diagnose, engine trouble , bigbore custom build up
about 1000 km we replaced the stator on this bike, now again charging issues..regulator ? — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
first to measure.. needs to run.. front plug is drowed and would not fire.. problebly from trying / running low battery.. — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

ok other plug in and running stable idle... voltage check check... no charge — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
pully cover removed already... the 4 pin plug with the 3 wire is stator plug — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
stator charges AC so put your meter on AC and check the range if it is between 12 to 100 volts AC— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
take a pair off the 3 wires and let the engine run.. messure with the wire, should be more than 14 volt up to 22 + if you ref1 it 2500 rpm , this is low idle 15-16 volt AC is perfect — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
check all 3 wires !! the other pair is also charging ,, ok stator is fine — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
now put your meter on diode check — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
and disconect bought connectors to the regulator,
look in the wire harness for the feed wire ( red ) to the battery this is also a black one in the regulator wires... for the diode check you need to check the + put the other terminal of your meter in the connector pins to the stator... they should all give no reading on all 3 wires , and if you alternate the mesure leads , the should give a 0,5 volt ( usualy this is the diode check test voltage ) on all 3 wires ... as this one douse.. so the diodes work in the regulator.. and safe to say the problem is not the regulator as well— bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
so only so much what can go wrong ? !! ground on the regulator is also good.. — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
but you see the problem,, the connection from the regulator to the bike is burned.. and the terminals are no longer connecting the wires — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
as we are going to fix this with a replacement connector.. very smart to label the black wire that is the charge feed

and now is the time to disconnect the battery if you had not ready done this — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
terminals removed frotm the connector , you see the burn marks — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
wires cut and new terminals on , round ones as these are better — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.

as the customer did drove a hour after the knock started, starting after cool down.. the noise was so hard.. the bike was shut off right away... i tried.. but indeed.. engine knock big time and soulds like bigend bearings ( 2007 bike ) draining the oil to start with... magnet is full with fine metal — bij Twin Motorcycles Buell Support forever.
