30-12-2016 - 22-12-2016 Big service XB12 07 rocker cover gasket, steering head bearings
al the way from Belgium... in for service and repairs
as we have a full day ahead on this bike... draining right away the old oil
and i start striping the bike as we need to rotate the engine down for the leaking rocker cover seals
side stand is crunchy... will clean and lube it
as the ride to us was in bad weather ... i will clean the swing arm first before i loosen the filler cap
drain plugs back in
and i start removing the exhaust
is only mounted with 1 bolt in the rear
tipical cracks for this brand off exhaust , next year the customer told me, exhaust is on the list ;-)
cleaning and liberal sprayed sticky chain grease on the side stand pivot,, rotate a few times so the grease is inside and clean the rest off
rear pad... will do theme these are to thing to make it for the next service
gearbox oil back in
and checking the primairy chain tension... bike is hot so the mesurement is less
removing the rear axle
to check the wheel bearings... still perfect
but the belt is becomeing bad
defenaly some big cracks inthere
customer asked to replace the belt.. so right foot peg plate off
and swing arm brace removed , it is a dirt collector
new belt on the pulleys , axle in but not tight yet
first the swingarm brace back in place
footpeg plate back on
and thighten the axle to 66 NM
rear caliper temperary mounted to loosen the brake pad pin
new pads in
caliper back on put a little neverseas on the pin threads
oil stuff and the rear checked , now the front and engine roation... engine supported and loosen the front bolt
we need to remove the airfilter base to rotate the engine
mnn velocity stack not mounted good , it needs to seal here
clutch cable out the lever
engine down.. time to replace the spark plugs the easy way
the plug cable where not on, good, could pul theme off way to easy , the rubber booth is pulled over the cable to far
and the connecting is heavy corroded , i will replace this cable
but has some rubbing markings .. so 2 new cables
rear plug the easy way :-)
put the cables on pointing inbound.. so the will not rubb againt the wire harness
same for the rear
2007 model , this rocker cover gasket has been leaking for a long time
cover off... the orange seals are the soft old models
the new black ones are much stifferand will seal better
tighen the cover 14 NM
engine up again
and w-brace back on
and scoops back on
ziptie the tps sensor to the fuel rail
and wiggle the airbox paceplate inbetween the slot on the stack rubber
bike turned around on the lift,
i already felt the steering has a dead notch in the middle , the streering head bearings are gone
so wheel out
and front legs out
losening the electics behind the flyscreen
head light brace out
and cables removed
handle bar off and loosen the stem bolt to remove the triple T set
lower stem out
with a long drift you can tap out the old bearings.. tip heavy hammer works so much better , there are notches in the frame for the drift
old bearing... corroded and hardly to spin by hand
new bearings... remove the dust seal... and repack the bearings full with grease , and put the seal back in
1 side down... 1 side to go
looks like they forgot the grease here :-X they will not have a long life like this
and number 2 in the frame
clean and lube the steering stem before you put it in
top plate on, and tighten the nut hard to set the bearings
loosen theme again and set to 55 Nm
rebuilding the handle bar and head light
flyscreen on and on the the next job on this bike
fork oil change.. pritty sure the left fork oil is 8 years old and 38000 km done
will clean the forks before i take theme apart
new oil in and forks back in the bike
with the forks in.. alined the triple t .. i can tighten the steeringstemnutpinchbolt
and front wheel in
axle front to 55 NM counter clock wise
exhaust back on..
heating up the bike and last thing brake fluid change
