20-10-2017 XB12 engine problem, cylinder stud part
18-11-2017 - 20-10-2017 Buell XB12 engine problems, cylinder stud part 3 ( AKA the hone job from Hell ;-) )
time to fix this mishap. first rotate the engine and get the cam cover off
clutch cable loose
front mount loose
top parts off
engine down and header removall
front rocker cover of
timing pick up of
this is the oil pump damage
breather line loose
and cover of , removed the sparkplugs and put the rear cylinder in bdp sp there is no pressure on the valve springs
pinion gear off
eeeehhh.. no sign off the bearing retaining ring.. i think i can safely say it was not mounted, and the pinion shaft crank bearing came out.. dhammm
striping the bike further to take the engine out to inspect the crank
clutch cable of and i need to get the bike over to a other lift
cylinder studs part trois... last time... next will be new cases
getting familiar . coil of
tensioner off to remvoe the exhaust
side plate off for engine rotation
removeinr the exhaust
and headers front nuts loose
w-brace loose
and droping the engine
rear header nuts out
and intake manifold loose
coil bracket
and top wire harness guide
rocker cover of
and rocker box loose
head bolt out
head gasket was compressed good
pushrod cover loose
and protecting the lifter bores from debris falling in
cylinder pulled off and taken the piston out
removeing the 2 left rear studs.. as we no longer trust these ( the right studs have failed to many time s on this bike, still wondering what the history is and what has been done to this bike for the studs to fail like this
studs out .. and taping of to dril the big serts repair
needed to trun down the dril bit so i could use a small drill , no room for the big one
but it works
chamfering tool also reduced the diameter off the shaft so i can clamp it in a 3/8 chuck
tapping in the hold it staight tool helper . keeping you eye on the rear studs also helps.. if the threads are of a little to much you will get issues mounting
1 in feeling goos
and forming / locking the insert in place
and 2 down and locked... next week stacking things up again.. and test riding longer rides to get the bike totaly warm to inspect if the sweating base gaskets are over
