26-9-2017 - 17-12-2016 Buell 1125R mounting quick shifter
my favorit 1125R... customer asked if i could mount a quick shifter... yes off course we can.. as there is very litte written on the mounting off a quickshifter with a stock ecm , i will write a more detailed workguide , but the basic are simple
first get the fairing off
and left airpod
pully cover off and side stand switch, in this case i remove the side stand swtich and reuse the wires for the quick shifter
taking mesurements for mounting , for normal shift , you need a liniair push set , but make sure you don't bottom it out
we are going to reuse the tan/white , and black / white wires , the red/white isolate , is not used
connectors on , it douse not mater how , as it is going to be a groud connecting
no locate the tan/white cable on the grey ecm plug
push the white tab to unlock the terminals
and put the side stand wire ( tan/white ) in the empty position 3 on the gray ecm plug , and lock the ecm connector again , you can leave the black/white wire connected as this is sensor ground
no open your favorite ecm aplication , and look for the shifter settings under system , and enable it , there are some options here, you can leave fuel on, and only cut the spark , nice for popping.... :-) but as i don't want the exhaust to explode i cut the fuel and the spark ... don't for get to disable the side stand switch ( for Euro bikes ) now we reused the side stand wires, off course you can pull your own wires to the ecm
ok the electics work.. now the hard ware , marking the position in the shift lever
the kit is expencife but comes with everything and more you need ( including dril bits, tap and wrech to tap the M5 screws )
hole drilled and tapped in the lever
i use the bracket that is in the kit, but needed to spacer it out so the original pulley cover can be put back on
checking agan... check 2x cut ones
yep this how it needs to be
final mounting with a little loctite
and adjusted so the switch douse not bottom out ( and moves the brackets
side cover on
and testing on the dyno... proof off concept works
we decided to leave it off for the first 2 gears, as if you try to shift with low / idle rpm the cut out time is to much and will kill the engine, it needs rpms, but you can change the 120 Ms to your licking.. but this is safe settings for a normal gear change..
the carbon fairing back on, looks good :-) happy with it
