The highly anticipated cooperation between GrandStand Designs (grandstanddesigns.com) and Twin Motorcycles (twinmotorcycles.nl) is finally happening.  GSD is working with TM to help bring some of the performance parts being developed and manufactured in Europe for Buell motorcycles to the States.

TM is headed up by Martin Vermey and Dris Hammadi and is located in Ijsselstein, Netherlands.  With their drive to get more power out of Buell motorcycles on the drag strip, they gained great knowledge and experience in the maintenance and tuning of Buell engines.

Recently they developed the best performing exhaust for the Buell 1125 named the Torque Hammer.  Dris claims that this exhaust will produce more torque and more hp than any other exhaust on the market today.  Using the Buell Race ECM, available to licensed racers through Buell’s racing department, Dris has made 151 hp and 95 ft/lbs of torque on his Dynojet 250 dyno.  These are very strong numbers for an otherwise stock Buell 1125R.  And at only 15 lbs, quite a substantial weight savings as well.

Now that they are here is the US, GSD has selected two very accomplished racing programs to test the Torque Hammer independently.

First, the road racing program at Ray Price HD/Buell in Raleigh, North Carolina (rayprice.com) has agreed to put the pipe to the test.  The accomplishments of the Ray Price riders are well documented with Dave Estok, Jerry Reid Jr. and Jordan Richardson on board.  When testing begins, the Torque Hammer exhaust will be tested on a stock bike with no tuning, on a lightly modified 1125R with commonly available fuel mapping software and on a third bike with the fully programmable Buell Race ECM.  If testing proves positive, the CCS Expert SuperTwins machine of Jerry Reid Jr. will conduct long-term race testing throughout the 2009 season.

Second, the racing department, under the direction of tuning expert Don Thutt, at Glendale HD/Buell in Glendale, CA (glendaleharley.com) has committed to testing the Torque Hammer as well.  Don has expressed a great interest in this pipe for both his track day enthusiast customers and for the competitive Glendale road racing team.  He will be testing the exhaust back-to-back on a stock 1125 machine and on their race prepped model.  Glendale HD/Buell is always at the forefront of racing and racing development in CA and should add valuable insight to the performance capabilities of the Torque Hammer exhaust system.

Grandstand Designs is proud to offer Buell 1125 owners a new and exciting option and believes that the Torque Hammer will quickly become the exhaust of choice for performance minded enthusiasts.  The pipe produces a deep rumble that snaps with a twist of the throttle.  The sound is not overwhelmingly loud and is unmistakably Buell. This pipe is now available for sale in our online store http://grandstanddesigns.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=7

TM is also developing parts for the 1125 Engine and will race with this engine in the 2009 season. More details will follow.

GSD looks forward to serving the Buell community in the US for TM, distributing the new Torque Hammer exhaust for the Buell 1125 and many other products to come.
